Delib is a digital demo­cracy com­pany. They help organ­isa­tions to use the inter­net to con­nect people with decision mak­ing. This is achieved through digital demo­cracy apps which enable gov­ern­ments to listen to peoples’ opin­ions and help cit­izens to make their voices heard (for example the Your Free­dom ini­ti­at­ive cre­ated by Delib). The infographic I designed for Delib shows their vis­ion of gov­ern­ment as a plat­form using apps to con­nect people more dir­ectly to the decision-making pro­cess in a par­ti­cip­at­ive demo­cracy model.

The Munich-based c² Con­sult­ing Group is an IT com­pany that offers con­sult­ing and soft­ware solu­tions for sales plan­ning to busi­nesses. I was com­mis­sioned to design a multi-purpose logo that would rep­res­ent their iden­tity as an IT con­sult­ing busi­ness and that could also be util­ised as an icon in their soft­ware applications.

From August to Novem­ber 2009 I had the oppor­tun­ity to work as an intern at the edit­or­ial design depart­ment of the SZ-Magazin, the weekly sup­ple­ment of Süd­deutsche Zei­tung, Germany´s biggest broad­sheet news­pa­per based in Munich. Dur­ing this time I act­ively worked at 15 issues of the magazine. Beside par­ti­cip­at­ing and con­trib­ut­ing in meet­ings, con­fer­ences and dis­cus­sions, I was able to get my hands dirty on lay­outs and page mak­ing. I helped to select images, col­ours and typo­graphic treat­ment, cre­ated page lay­outs and con­trib­uted ideas and sug­ges­tions. I col­lab­or­ated closely with other depart­ments such as pho­to­graphy, text, mar­ket­ing and pre-press and gained hands-on exper­i­ence of the edit­or­ial design pro­cess, which I enjoyed a lot. It was par­tic­u­larly inter­est­ing as I wit­nessed the relaunch of the magazine in August and was involved in imple­ment­ing and refin­ing the design changes. The fol­low­ing are some of the spreads that I designed dur­ing this time.
