A tongue-in-cheek take on ste­reo­typ­ical art and design school clichés as seen at degree shows. I designed and coded this web app in col­lab­or­a­tion with my friend and col­league Barn­aby for the Open Design School of which I’m a member.

The web app can be used with an iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It allows you to tick off clichés in a list as you go through an art and design sum­mer show. A cliché rank­ing is cal­cu­lated based on the aver­age cliché count per vis­itor. The web­site www.clichespotting.com dis­plays the top 10 cliché art schools and the most spot­ted clichés in a leader table. In addi­tion to this it provides an over­view over the degree shows cur­rently run­ning and the ones com­ing up.

The web­site and inter­face design is inten­tion­ally ref­er­en­cing many of the clichés to add to the ironic nature of the pro­ject. It uses CSS3 and is based on the 960 Grid Sys­tem. The typo­graphy is achieved thanks to the beau­ti­ful open source font by the League of Mov­able Type.

This is an inform­a­tion graphic poster illus­trat­ing the under­ly­ing life­cycle, meth­ods, prin­ciples and tech­niques in a user centred design pro­cess where the visual part is only the tip of the ice­berg. It was cre­ated as a per­sonal pro­ject dur­ing my time at City ID in Bris­tol. I also designed a micros­ite to go with it. You can down­load the poster for free from there or get a prin­ted copy when you make a dona­tion towards the print­ing costs. Any excess goes towards my education.

The web­site is hand coded CSS3 beauty and was another exper­i­ment as well as a learn­ing exper­i­ence in using pro­gress­ive enhance­ment tech­niques to make a web­site beau­ti­ful and usable. It was also a per­fect excuse to use the fant­astic and highly recom­men­ded open source font Tit­il­lium.

Web-Redesign for a Munich-based busi­ness offer­ing Vir­tual Per­sonal Assist­ant ser­vices. This design was an oppor­tun­ity to use a play­ful illus­trat­ive approach and exper­i­ment with the latest HTML5 and CSS3 web design tech­no­lo­gies. You can view a pro­to­type here.
